Last week I asked for your help picking a sewing tutorial for me to write this month. It's kind of like my 'Pinterest Un-Tutorials' series that I was doing before, but I'm picking possible projects from all over the web. Read more about it here.
The choices were...
- a bean bag storage chair - for stuffed animals
- classic Christmas stockings
- or a roomy new market bag
You voted - and the winning sewing project was...
This roomy market tote! This is the only picture that I have of it since the Pin where I found it leads to a 'sold out' page at Land's End.
I like the rope handles and the big pockets on the outside. I'm thinking that this bag should be reversible with the same pockets on the inside. And some kind of interfacing or interlining that would give it body but not make it too stiff.
My question for you is this: would you like the tote to have a rounded bottom or a boxed bottom? From the picture, it kind of looks like a rounded bottom - or maybe they just put something round inside the bag before taking the picture. Boxed bottoms are easier to sew on bags - but I know you could sew a rounded bottom if I gave you a pattern piece! (have I written the word 'bottom' enough?)
Weigh in with your opinion in the comments below. Do you like the rope handles and the pockets too? What shape should the bottom of the bag have?
Next week I'll show you my version of this cute market bag, and then a week later I'll share my free sewing pattern and tutorial.
P.S. What about the other two projects? Well... Michele commented on the voting post about how badly her family needs new Christmas stockings, and Lori Michel says she really needs the storage bag for her pup's toys. We'll just have to see if I have time to sew and write more than just this one pattern, lol!
