Last night I opened up my browser and connected to a video meeting where I saw the faces of my readers and heard their voices. I’m not going to say it was mind blowing because those aren’t the right words. The right words are heart changing.
I feel changed today. I miss my new friends.
I thought I was going to be the leader, but I felt like just one more in a group of dear friends. Over the course of an hour we shared stories, discovered a love for projects we have in common (and some we don’t), and we were connected.
It was heart changing.
This was the first video meeting for our online sewing support circle This Little Light. You all know that I started This Little Light just about 2 weeks ago with the intention of trying to find some way to share more with you.
To give back to my readers who have supported me through ups and downs. Through popular and successful sewing projects and projects that were, to be honest, just not a good idea!
And when I used this blog as a place to share personal things like my struggles with anxiety and depression - I got more messages, comments, and emails full of support than I ever imagined could happen.
So This Little Light is going to evolve. Today I gave it a new creed because you showed me the potential we have to support one another even though we are separated by distance, age, and life circumstances.
The new creed of This Little Light is: Create. Connect. Share Your Light.
This is because we love to create. I’m going to keep designing projects we can do together, block of the month videos, and worksheets to that we can use to create beautiful things.
The connect part is already happening through our forum and especially last night at our video meeting. If you have any ideas about how we can connect better with one another online, please share them. Whether you are a member of This Little Light or not - if you have ideas for me please get in contact with me somehow so I can hear them!
And finally, last night my heart was expanded to fit so many new friends inside. I was not expecting that nor had any idea that it was possible. You shared your light with me and made my evening better, my day today better, and I suspect much more than that.
Thank you so much!
And if you are wondering what all the fuss is about, come join us at This Little Light. Help us make our group all that it is meant to be. Because I don't think we have even scratched the surface yet.
