Sorry, our Liberty Fabrics giveaway from Alice Caroline is cancelled. I used the fabrics in a quilt, lol.
Just kidding! The giveaway is still on!!!
I’m so excited to have finished my first Liberty quilt. I’ve sewn with Liberty fabrics before (here’s the blouse I made) but making a quilt out of these lovelies was a whole new adventure.
Earlier this month my friend at Alice Caroline Liberty Fabrics sent me this beautiful Rainbow Fat Quarter Bundle of Tana Lawn to make something with (and they promised a couple other giveaway bundles too).
Just a quick note: I’ve seen other online retailers that had one or two Liberty collections, but Alice Caroline has all the bundles… they’ve curated so many different collections of Liberty Fabrics that the only hard part is choosing which one. And shipping is super fast too. :)
And I overlooked this fact before… but Tana Lawn fabrics are 54’’ wide so each fat quarter has an extra 5’’ of width compared to regular quilting cotton fat quarters.
I picked 12 of the fat quarters from the bundle and had plenty of fabric to make another simple bargello-style quilt using the same technique that I did in my Color By Number Quilt.
Tana Lawn fabrics are so soft and buttery that they are a real treat to sew with. And it seems like no matter how you put them together they are beautiful!
Since the fat quarters were larger than usual, I had enough fabric left over to make a sweet little boxy pouch with scraps.
Do you recognize it?
It’s the U-Pick project for this month and the tutorial is almost ready.
