Did you get a chance to vote for this month's U-Pick Sewing Project? I hope so!
From the very start, the cute mini Christmas stocking idea was not getting very many votes. :(
I may have to sew those up anyway, I love sewing for Christmas so much!
So then it was pretty much a vote between these two project ideas: the hobo bag and the coiled rope basket.
Seriously, I would check and one was winning. Then I would check again the next day and the other one was winning... all week long!
My goal with this lovely hobo bag is to take my favorite elements and leave some of the fussy details behind (like the double zipper) so that it's a fun project you can make in a day.
The elements that I do love are:
- the pleats at the bottom
- the topstitched seam down the middle
- the curved shape at the top
I'll include a fabric strap in case you can't find a piece of webbing exactly the right color and width for your bag. But just in case you have one - you can for sure use it!
I'm not sure about the side pockets. They are certainly do-able, but are they worth the extra work?
Make sure you let me know the elements that you'd like to see in this tutorial in the comments below. I'm not promising that I'll show everyone everything they want - but I'll think on it! ❤️
Hopefully I'll have my own version of this bag to show you in about a week. In the meantime, you might like these 14+ Tote Bags You Can Sew In a Day that I've already done!
