I can’t believe it…. the tote bag did not win!
Every time I put a tote bag in our U-Pick Sewing series, it wins.
Sometimes I feel like its kind of unfair because the other projects are really cute. But that’s not what happened this time:
Victory to the Tomte! A Tomte is a Swedish gnome and I am swooning!
These little guys are so adorable that I can’t wait to sew up a few!
In my free pattern, I want to include the following elements inspired by the picture:
a tall pointy hat with a wire or pipe cleaner in it so you can shape it
long dangly legs ❤️
a weighted bottom so he can sit on a counter or chair
A sweet reader with Scandinavian heritage emailed me last week with timely insights: I must use red in my Tomte along with any other colors. And Scandinavian decor always includes greenery - sounds lovely!
Hopefully I'll have my a few Christmas gnomes to show you in about a week. Give me a week after that to draft the pattern. In the meantime, you might like these Free + Fabulous Christmas Sewing Projects that I've already done!
