I thought I picked 3 really amazing projects to choose from this month and that the voting would be tight among all three.
But I was wrong:
The poor little corduroy tote bags barely got a quarter of the vote!
So instead it was a super tight race between the Cozy Poncho Wrap and the Woven Basket…
And the basket won!
I’m super excited to make this project.
Here is a photo of the inspiration basket that I found on Amazon.
This is what I am considering for my free pattern:
I want to try using fabric and double sided fusible Peltex 72F. I’m hoping its a fast and easy way to make strips that are about the same thickness and sturdiness as those on the example.
As for size, it would be so much fun if these were the right dimensions to fit in my IKEA cubbies. Smaller baskets would be cute for gift-giving, though.
I am considering skipping the handles because they might not work so well in the cubbies - and sewing leather on top of thick materials like fabric + Peltex could make a regular sewing machine struggle.
What do you think? Small or large? Handles or not? Make sure you share your ideas in the comments below. It’s always a lot of help!
Hopefully I'll have my a basket or two ready to show you in about a week. Give me a week after that to draft the pattern. In the meantime, you might like this list of 9 Must Make DIY Fabric Baskets!
