Do you love our U-Pick Sewing Tutorial series as much as I do?
Each month for over a year now I’ve shown you three things that I really want to make, and I let you pick your favorite. I simply don’t have time to write tutorials for them all - and it’s so much fun to let you help me choose.
Voting for our August U-Pick project ended yesterday. Do you want to see which project won?
Here are the 3 ideas that you got to vote for… cute organizing baskets, a clever cross body bag with multiple compartments, or a stylish scarf vest.
Can you guess which project won the vote?
It was the cross body bag!!
This sweet little bag is going to be so much fun to make!
It’s kind of like my DIY Cell Phone Wallet pattern, but it’s going to be bigger and with 2 or 3 interior compartments instead of 1.
I don’t want to change very much because I think the bag in the picture is adorable. However, some things that I will probably sew differently are:
I’ll use quilting cotton instead of canvas (which the inspiration bag looks like from the picture)
My snaps are plastic, not metal (Kam Snaps)
And my bag hardware is mostly shiny nickel, not brass.
Do you think I should add a welt zipper pocket to the exterior back side of the purse since there isn’t a zipper on the inside? Or do you want to go zipper-free on this one? Let me know in the comments.
Hopefully I'll have a cute cross body bag ready to show you in about a week. Give me a week or so after that to draft the pattern. In the meantime, you might like my Ultimate List of Fast and Easy Bags to Sew.
