You all know that I recently curated a collection of fabric with QT Fabrics called ‘Sweet Caroline’… well it’s shipping to stores now, yay!
What I really, really, really can’t wait to see is what you choose to make with it, so I really hope you tag me on Instagram @sewcanshe with all your projects!
When I was sewing up things with the preliminary yardage, I used Sweet Caroline to sew up a new Basket Tote (from my own free pattern).
The folks at QT Fabrics loved it so much that we put together a printable pattern and materials list so that shop owners can offer the Sweet Caroline Basket Tote as a kit!
This project uses ByAnnie’s Soft and Stable interfacing for a beautiful finish.
The free pattern that your local quilt shop (hopefully) has includes the Easy Japanese Style Bag handles too.
So run over there and get it!
Just in case your LQS carries Sweet Caroline, but not the Basket Tote Project Kit, here’s what you will need:
1/2 yard Floral Turquoise (for the main exterior)
1/2 yard Calligraphy Taupe (coordinating exterior fabric
1/2 yard Tic Tac Dot Turquoise (to make piping)
1/2 yard Tic Tac Dot Coral (for the handles and binding)
1 yard Packed Floral Blue (lining and pockets)
1 magnetic snap closure
1/2 to 1 yard flexible foam stabilizer such as ByAnnies (1/2 yard if 58'' wide, 1 yard if only 20'' wide)
2 yards 3/16'' cording for the piping
Then you can sew it up by following the free Fabric Basket Tote pattern here on my blog. I hope you have lots of fun with the project and make sure to show me the pictures!!! ❤️
So, what have you been sewing up this week? Did you make something with one of my free sewing tutorials or patterns? I would love to see! Tag me on Instagram @sewcanshe.
