I couldn't help it... I made more cork fabric wallets!
You probably saw the tutorial for easy Cork Fabric Wallets that I wrote a couple weeks ago.
Well, I wanted one that would fit my iPhone so I decided to play around making a larger size. Sewing with cork is so much fun it really is playtime! :)
My iPhone sized cork wallet is just as useful as the smaller size and it was just as easy to make.
Are these bigger wallets better? Well, that will be up to you to say!
This time I used 1'' D-rings and metallic embroidery thread instead of polyester.
Tip: Metallic threads can be finicky. I've been able to make most brands work on my machines with some adjustments (my Janome sewing/embroidery machine and my Brother embroidery only machine), but I find Robison Anton Metallic Embroidery Thread to be the easiest to use and need the least changes in settings. In fact I don't need to adjust my settings at all. I just thought you'd like to know. If a certain brand of metallic thread works great in your machine, tell us in the comments!
All of my cork fabric came from Fabric Funhouse - there is a huge assortment of colors and printed varieties. You could also change change the cut-off corners to curves, or skip that step altogether.
If you want to make smartphone-sized cork fabric wallets too, just follow my DIY Cork Fabric Wallet Tutorial except you will need to use:
- 1 cork fabric rectangle 7 1/2'' x 7'' (back and flap piece)
- 1 cork fabric rectangle 4 1/4'' x 7'' (front piece)
- 1 small cork fabric strip 1'' x 2 1/2'' (adjust the width to fit your d-ring)
- 1 d-ring with a 1'' opening (or other size, adjusting the strip above)
I cut the triangle corners exactly the same and stitched the new wallets up exactly the same way too.
Oh, and if you are in love with my Rifle Paper Co. iPhone case like I am, I found it on Amazon. ❤️
