Did you vote for this cute hanging organizer for our U-Pick tutorial this month? If you did, you'll be happy to see that I set to work drafting my own pattern for it... and I prevailed!
Here's a peek at the details from top to bottom...
My hanging organizer is sewn with cotton canvas for the body. I put tabs at the top (just like our inspiration photo) so it could hang from a simple dowel and twine.
When I asked whether you would like the pockets to be sewn from heavier decor-weight fabric or quilting cotton, I got a huge response! About half of you wanted decor weight fabric, and the other half wanted pretty quilting cotton... so I used both. The pockets have pretty quilting cotton on the exterior - and are reinforced with canvas on the inside.
If you have home decor weight fabric that you love and want to use for the exterior, it will work great too!
The pockets are nice and roomy - look at all the embroidery thread I can put in one!
Or a stack of 12 fat quarters (these are Ombre Stitches) - it could easily fit more. The pockets are super sturdy with Peltex ultra-firm stabilizer on the bottoms of them.
Now that I've worked out my design, I'm going to sew another one (or two) and write the tutorial for you. Watch for it soon - in the meantime you might like my roundup of 11+ Free Sewing Projects to Make You More Organized!
