In case you are reading this Show Off Saturday post on Friday, I’m posting it 12 hours early so as many people can see it as possible!
This is a total shift from our usual Show Off Saturday blog posts, but I hope you’ll understand.
I live in Florida, about 500 miles from Mexico Beach where Hurricane Michael created ‘unimaginable destruction’ and tore apart the homes, schools, and businesses of people who live there.
I’m not going to share photos of the disaster because you can easily find them by searching the terms ‘hurricane Michael’ or ‘Mexico Beach, FL.’ The photos that trouble me the most are not the ones of destroyed property (and those are frightening), but the photos of people sitting in shelters with no where to go. Those photos are heartbreaking.
What I really want to do is help. Now.
I was tempted to buy something and or sew something and send it, but what first responders - those who are still trying to rescue people right now - really need right now is other resources that I can’t provide. But the American Red Cross can. So I made a donation. You can too and here’s a link. (and we can still send quilts and other supplies later)
But I would like to do more. So this weekend all of the digital patterns in my Etsy shop are on sale, and I will donate 100% of the proceeds from this sale to the American Red Cross.
The minimum online donation through the American Red Cross is $10 (even though I know you’d love to give much more if you could).
Through Monday October 15th, you can buy one of my digital Glitter Quilt Patterns for $8.80 and I’ll donate all of that (less the Etsy fees) to American Red Cross on Tuesday October 16th. And you’ll still get the pattern!
The proceeds from my other digital patterns (including the #10 Caddy and the embroidery files) will be donated to the Red Cross also. Feel free to buy 1 digital pattern or all of them - 100% of the money will be donated.
The sale will only run through Monday and I’ll make the online donation on Tuesday, so the help will reach those who need it as soon as possible. Note: this includes digital patterns only.
I know my readers are some of the sweetest, kindest people around. If you can afford it, then hopefully you will enjoy getting a pattern on me and helping with the relief efforts too! ❤️
I’ll let you know next Wednesday how much money I donated through the American Red Cross website.
And now it’s time for you to show off! What have you been sewing up this week? Did you make something with one of my free sewing tutorials or patterns? I would love to see. Tag me on Instagram @sewcanshe.
