A few years ago I had a little obsession with wool. I got a felting machine and I made all kinds of projects with felted wool (including this boy's scarf). I bought books about every topic related to wool... including growing your own, lol! What was the animal I thought I could raise for wool??? Llamas!
Whether it is a fortunate thing or not, my obsession has passed and I mostly leave wool to the insides of my quilts. Although I do love a soft wool felt now and then - like on the face of this adorable llama sewn from Jennifer Jangles' Little Llama Softie pattern!
This past week Jennifer hosted a blog sewalong for the Little Llama Softie pattern. She's giving away 2 $50 gift cards to her shop and even though all the sewalong posts are up you still have a chance to win until July 28th! Make sure you visit the Jennifer Jangles blog to learn how!
I love how Jennifer's patterns allow me to replicate her signature happy style on my own projects - like this sweet llama blanket! When I started planning it, I thought I would need to take a trip to the store for rick rack trim that coordinated with my blanket fabric. But then I found these soft wool felt strips that I cut with a pinking rotary blade a long time ago during my wool obsession. DIY felt rick rack - perfect! I even had felted wool balls in my stash. Don't call me a hoarder, just the owner of a well stocked sewing stash.
Maybe someday I'll be able to keep llamas in my backyard. Right now trying to keep 4 kids in the backyard is challenging enough! :)
Okay... your turn! What have you been sewing up this week? Did you make something with one of my free sewing tutorials or patterns? I would love to see! Tag me on Instagram @sewcanshe.
