I feel like I'm cheating on our Monthly Mini Quilts because I sewed up this baby in between... but it was just so cute that I couldn't resist! (see the Monthly Mini Quilt tab above if you haven't joined our sewalong yet)
I love surprises, and opening the box was so much fun. It contained everything I needed to sew the 'Free Ride' mug rug... from the laser cut applique pieces, batting, and binding, down to the cute button embellishments.
The pre-cut applique pieces already had HeatnBond lite on the back, so I just had to iron them to one side of the backing fabric and then iron the fusible batting to the other side. Then I got to play with the applique stitches on my new Janome 14000. :)
An afternoon of mini-quilt making was just the therapy I needed! Don't you love a sweet little project you can complete in an afternoon?
If our Monthly Mini Quilt series isn't enough for you either, the Mug Rug Club from Stitches of Love Quilting might be just what you need. At least head over to my giveaway page to see if you can win that extra box, wink wink!
So, what have you been sewing up this week? Did you make something with one of my free sewing tutorials or patterns? I would love to see! Tag me on Instagram @sewcanshe.
