Happy New Year everyone! I'm so excited about 2018. I think it's going to be sew-perb. I've got some new ideas up my sleeve, some secret projects that I'm working on, and lots of happy vibes for an amazing year!
Rather than spill the beans about everything that's coming (he he), I thought I'd take a few moments and write down some New Year's Re-sew-lutions. What are those? Why resolutions for sewing, of course! And along the way, I think you'll catch the feel for what you can see on the SewCanShe blog this year. Hopefully. If I keep my re-sew-lutions, lol! Which I will. Of course! Don't we all???
1. Sew more with SCRAPS!!!
I recently splurged and bought myself this adorable basket storage tower to organize my scraps. The problem is that I currently have them all stuffed in bags in the closet. I just KNOW that if I get them out and organized then I will use them!
2. Sew more for Charity.
I recently made these two comfort dolls for my local women's shelter and I found the whole process so comforting and rewarding to myself. Not that that's what's important. I know that thinking of others outside ourselves is what's important, but I find that I am always blessed in the process (often in unexpected ways) so I am inspired to do more of it this year. And write more about other sewists who are doing wonderful things. Do you know any one (individuals or groups) who are doing something amazing for others? Please let me know (caroline (at) sewcanshe (dot) com) so I can investigate and do a little reporting!
3. Do more hand sewing!
I've done all kinds of machine sewing: fast, slow, and in-between. And I don't intend to give up any of those!
But there is just something about hand sewing that soothes my soul. I'm not talking about that last part of a project that must be hand sewed or it won't look right. Or mending (!). I'm talking about purposeful, thoughtful, enjoy-the-journey hand sewing. I've already started on my first hand sewing project for 2018 and I can't wait to show you. Eeeek!
4. I want to continue our Monthly Mini Quilts!
It was so much fun last year sewing mini quilts with you! I loved showing off your quilts here on my blog too. A few ladies made each and every one - yay for you, you know who you are!
So pick a new wall to hang minis on and get ready for a new year of marvelous mini quilts. A beautiful new mini quilt for January 2018 is already designed and ready to go and I'm so excited to welcome Lauren of Molly and Mama as our first mini quilt designer. You are going to love it!
I will show my version of the new January mini here on Saturday, and then the free pattern will be released on the Monday following.
I know, I know - mini quilt patterns are supposed to be released on the first Monday of the month. But we have 5 Monday's this month so I thought it would be okay to give us all a chance to rest after our crazy New Year's Parties, right? (see the meme at the top, lol)
What are your 2018 Re-sew-lutions??? Tell us in the comments below. And don't say finish up my UFO's! Unless you really, truly, really, truly, promise to. I'm not even going to pretend it's on my list. :)
