I need your help! There are so many things that I want to sew and not nearly enough time in the day (or week, or month, or year!) for me to sew them all.
Will you vote for the next project that you want me to turn into a fun free sewing tutorial?
This is pretty much a new twist on the 'Pinterest UnTutorials' series that I was doing before, but I want to be able to grab inspiration from anywhere (not just Pinterest) and then let you pick which one ends up here with a pattern and step by step instructions. I will still probably browse Pinterest (I can't help it!), but I also see stuff that I want to knock off on Amazon, Pottery Barn (swoon!), and even when I'm shopping at the mall.
Before any of you freak out about copyright and such - I would never intentionally copy the work of another handmade artist. In every case I will look at a picture and then interpret the design in my own way, using the techniques and materials that I feel best fit the project - which will most likely make my design new and different. Also, copyrights cannot be applied to 'functional items.' That includes fashion. Interesting, huh?
Seriously, though - can you blame me for wanting to knock off Pottery Barn Kids and sew adorable housewares for less?
So let me show you the options...
My girls need this bean bag storage chair in their room!!!! It's always a disaster. I can't believe I didn't think of it first - a huge bag that isn't filled with beans or stuffing - but filled with their stuffed animals and then zipped up for easy storage. Genius.
I know I could make my own pattern using home decor fabrics. Vote for it!
Oh, but Christmas is coming! This was the year that I was going to sew everyone in our family a personalized Christmas stocking. Darn it! I already sewed 2 using QAYG but now I need to speed up the process!
Vote for this if you want me to show you how to sew Classic quilted Christmas stockings.
But I need a new bag too! Quilt Market is only 3 weeks away and I always have a new made-by-me bag. I love the look of this roomy bag that I saw on Pinterest (a sold out Land's End item). I used rope and grommets before on my Rope Handled Tote so I know I can knock of this one and have it look awesome. Vote for it!!!
Here's your chance... What's my October Sewing Challenge???
P.S.... Lots of people will assume I picked these projects because I couldn't find another tutorial for them. They will send me links to similar tutorials. Before you do that, read my opinion on the subject:
1. You might find similar tutorials online to the ones I am suggesting.
2. I'm writing this blog series mostly to have fun with my readers and to find out what they want me to write next - not really to write a tutorial for something that hasn't been written before.
3. I love to see how different bloggers put their own spin on easy projects.
I hope you do too and you decide to keep reading!
