Some of you have been asking to see how my sewing room makeover is coming... I know it's been two weeks since I've posted about it and the reason why is because it's a big mess!
The wood floors were done for less than a day...
(and during that time my kids had lots of sock races up here)...
Before this I teased my friend Emily about how much stuff they owned when we helped them move. And then she helped me move my sewing stuff up from the back bedroom, the garage, and the front of the house, lol! Okay, my bad. I have more. It's soooo easy to underestimate how much stuff you have until it's time to pack it up.
We realized that my big Ikea cubby storage shelves have been moved so many times that they probably won't make it up one more set of stairs. So I am planning new storage... with the help of Pinterest! I made a this board to save sewing room ideas.
So that's the progress my friends! I'm working in my studio amidst a huge mess, but it's a beautiful mess and I'm so happy every minute I'm in there. :)
So, what have you been sewing up this week? Did you make something with one of my free sewing tutorials or patterns? I would love to see! Tag me on Instagram @sewcanshe.
Our Monthly Mini Quilt Pattern this month is a new classic! I'm so in love with the Ladybug Liberty Mini Quilt that was designed for us by Fat Quarter Shop! Fat Quarter Shop is also giving away a $50 Gift Certificate with this month's free mini quilt pattern...
I LOVE to use the walking foot on my sewing machine (also known as an even-feed foot). I've gotten questions over the years about why I am using it for one project or another. So here's the (kind-of) long version if you want me to share all... Then I'll list the situations where I like to use it most.
Merry Christmas SewCanShe fans! I've been saving a present for you! Last year when I was putting my proposal together for Just For You, I wrote this Travel Jewelry Case Pattern. We figured out a few months later that it wasn't going to fit in the book, so I decided to save it for Christmas. And Christmas is here!
I'm so excited to finally share the Zippie Clippie pattern with you... this pouch has so many purposes that I'll never be able to count them all. Clip one on a backpack with pencils and school supplies. Clip another to your bag to hold your phone. Then sew another to hold your hand sewing kit while on road trips!
The Variable Star is a classic quilt block that has been around for over 100 years. It has also been called the Sawtooth Star and the Evening Star. This fun block lends itself to so many versions. Since the center is a square, you can fill that square with patchwork, fussy cut fabric, or more stars (like I did)!
