So, this little blog 'experiment' that I thought might last a month or two is getting bigger and bigger. I had to make a Pinterest board for the 'Solved Un-Tutorials' because now people are emailing me asking where to find them, lol! Who knows how many we will solve? So from now on, you can find all of the 'Solved Un-Tutorials' here.
Un-Tutorials are those sneaky pins that lead you to believe there's a tutorial behind them - and then there's not. Those kinds of pins are so common that I gave them a name and started a Pinterest board.
And now it's time for YOU to vote for the Un-Tutorial that I'll solve (aka write a new tutorial for) this month!
Will it be...
This pin was one of those 'photo tutorials' that expect you to be able to cut everything and sew it from just looking at the pictures. I know they are popular, but I wonder how many people are happy with their finished projects. I usually have to sew a couple versions before I get my Un-Tutorial project right.
So, if this wallet-pouch wins, I'll write a tutorial that includes downloadable pattern pieces. :)
Or will you pick these adorable fish shaped laundry bags? I LOVE these! And the pin leads to something totally unrelated.
If anyone knows of a tutorial for these that has already been written, they can leave a link in the comments. But I'd love to try my own version anyway.
Or these cute patchwork covered hangers? I have so many scraps that would look darling sewn into these... and what great gifts would they make!
Remember... whatever project wins, I'll be sewing my own knock-off version and then giving you a tutorial the week after that. So vote below for the project that you'd like to see me sew!
Next Wednesday voting will close and I'll announce the winner. Then I'll get started sewing it up. On the 3rd Wednesday this month I'll share pictures of our finished project and on the 4th Wednesday I'll share a tutorial of my version.
And please come pin to our Un-Tutorials board! If you want, you can even grab pictures of things other places on the web or upload pictures you snapped from your phone (at Target, lol?). Leave me a comment with your email address at the bottom of this post so I can give you permission to add pins to our board. Be sure to read and follow the rules at the top of the Pinterest page.
P.S.... Lots of people will assume I picked these projects because I couldn't find another tutorial for them. They will send me links to similar tutorials. Before you do that, read my opinion on the subject:
1. Everything that you see in pictures has been sewn before by someone and will continue to be sewn and written up again and again.
2. I'm writing this blog series mostly to have fun with my readers and to find out what they want me to write next - not really to write a tutorial for something that hasn't been written before (see #1).
3. Since pretty much everything has already been done before, what I enjoy most is seeing how other bloggers and designers put their own personality into a project.
I hope you do too and you decide to keep reading!
