This little blog 'experiment' that I thought might last a month or two is getting bigger and bigger. I had to make a Pinterest board for the 'Solved Un-Tutorials' because now people are emailing me asking where to find them, lol! Who knows how many we will solve? So from now on, you can find all of the 'Solved Un-Tutorials' here.
Can you believe it - we're on our 12th month of UnTutorials! Un-Tutorials are those sneaky pins that lead you to believe there's a tutorial behind them - and then there's not. Or maybe there's a bunch of pictures with no real instructions that you can understand. Those kinds of pins are so common that I gave them a name and started a Pinterest board.
For December I am going to wax thoughtful. This is a good time of year to allow second chances, don't you think? Sometimes the best gift I could ask for is forgiveness from someone or the chance to make something right, be a better friend, or just sew a seam with the correct seam allowance, lol!
So this month the three UnTutorials that you get to vote from are projects that you got the chance to vote on earlier this year, but they didn't win. Now they get a second chance! As usual, I will figure out how to sew the winning project and write a tutorial for you by the end of the month.
And now it's time for YOU to vote for the Un-Tutorial that I'll solve (aka write a new tutorial for) this month!
Will it be the patchwork scissor keepers? I know that a bunch of you wanted these to win because you emailed me about it, lol. Seriously, I was sad these didn't win back in July too. So now they get a second chance. Vote for the patchwork scissor keepers if you want me to sew some up and write a tutorial!
Or what about this pocketed tote? I thought there was going to be a riot back in October when it didn't win! Here's your chance to vote for it again. I would love to stitch this up in some of my favorite fabrics.
And then there was the too-low-top-fixer that came in second place in September. Such a worthy cause! I won't show you the whole pin because it is a bit racy (he, he) but you can click on the picture if you want to see it.
Remember... you only have a week to vote! Whatever project wins, I'll be sewing my own knock-off version and then giving you a tutorial the week after that. So vote below for the project that you'd like to see me sew!
Next Wednesday voting will close and I'll announce the winner. Then I'll get started sewing it up. On the 3rd Wednesday this month I'll share pictures of our finished project and soon after that I'll share a tutorial of my version.
P.S.... Lots of people will assume I picked these projects because I couldn't find another tutorial for them. They will send me links to similar tutorials. Before you do that, read my opinion on the subject:
1. You will probably find similar tutorials online to the ones I am suggesting.
2. I'm writing this blog series mostly to have fun with my readers and to find out what they want me to write next - not really to write a tutorial for something that hasn't been written before.
3. I love to see how different bloggers put their own spin on easy projects.
I hope you do too and you decide to keep reading!
