Last month Fat Quarter Shop offered me some fabric so I could sew up their latest Shortcut Quilt Pattern, the Star Cakes Quilt, and look how cute it turned out!
This shortcut quilt was just as fun to make as my other ones have been. I learned a new way to make 8 half square triangles from 2 layer cake squares (a layer cake is a stack of 42 pre-cut 10'' squares). I had hardly any waste from my layer cakes - but it was really pretty waste, lol!
The Star Cake block is so pretty - both classic and modern at the same time! For this quilt I needed 1 print layer cake (I used Paradiso by Kate Spain for Moda), 1 solid layer cake, and 2 more yards of solid fabric for the sashing and borders. It's a big quilt top too - a generous twin at 72'' x 90''.
For 3 days only, Fat Quarter Shop is making it easy to try this new free pattern with 20% off all layer cakes. Don't miss this layer cake sale!
Be a sewing superhero who can sew sleeves on dresses!!!
You know what that means, there is something new today at This Little Light.
The third Tuesday (like today), is when new journaling pages and other printable are released so members of my sewing support circle can keep on planning, journaling, and more.
When I got these gorgeous canvas fabric prints that look so awesome together, I knew I had to make a bag that showed off two prints at the same time. This is a big sturdy tote bag that's perfect for taking to the beach, yoga class, or just to the grocery store. There are pockets on the inside and lots of room too.
Our Monthly Mini Quilt Pattern this month is a new classic! I'm so in love with the Ladybug Liberty Mini Quilt that was designed for us by Fat Quarter Shop! Fat Quarter Shop is also giving away a $50 Gift Certificate with this month's free mini quilt pattern...
I LOVE to use the walking foot on my sewing machine (also known as an even-feed foot). I've gotten questions over the years about why I am using it for one project or another. So here's the (kind-of) long version if you want me to share all... Then I'll list the situations where I like to use it most.
Merry Christmas SewCanShe fans! I've been saving a present for you! Last year when I was putting my proposal together for Just For You, I wrote this Travel Jewelry Case Pattern. We figured out a few months later that it wasn't going to fit in the book, so I decided to save it for Christmas. And Christmas is here!
