My husband's birthday was earlier this month and we had fun celebrating it as a family. Today I just wanted to share the superhero shirt I made for him... because any good dad is a superhero to his kids and his wife! The kids and I nick named their dad 'Captain Carl' years ago and I know he likes it even though he humbly pretends to protest.
I was in a real hurry (oops - working on the shirt at 11pm the night before) so I was super grateful to have a Silhouette Cameo that could cut out the design in a hurry. I grabbed a plain tee shirt at Target and used Silhouette Heat Transfer stuff in several colors for the shield. Excuse my sloppy ironing job - it was late at night. I don't think I even got the design on straight, lol!
The most surprising thing was that I could not find this 'shield' design or anything similar on the web. So I had to draw it myself. I have made the circular shield design available to you as a download in two formats. In order to let you name your own captain, it does not include the words. :)
You could also appliqué this design onto a shirt with HeatnBond or something similar. Click here to download the design in a .pdf file.
So, what have you been sewing up this week? Did you make something with one of my free sewing tutorials or patterns? I would love to see! Tag me on Instagram @sewcanshe.
