Welcome to our July SewCanShe Sewalong! Each month we're sewing 2 projects from the book that Sarah Markos and I wrote, Just For You. Our book contains 24 selfish sewing projects to help you sew something special for your self every month of the year. We have a facebook group where you can post your photos and questions and get inspiration from other sewists.
Plus, each month we have asked 2 'Sewlebrity Bloggers' to sew along with us and inspire us with their versions of the patterns in the book. This month we'll see projects from the talented Abbey of Sew Charleston and Heather of Feather's Flights.
The first project this month is the Night Circus Skirt. This flattering A-line 6 gore skirt has so many possibilities. The one in the book has alternating black and white panels (see the one on the left). I made one with DIY patchwork fabric (center photo), and Sarah made one that she embellished with hand embroidery (right).
As you can see, this was one of our favorite projects to make and wear! Hurry up and grab a copy of the book so you can make one with us this month.
The knit fabric infinity scarf that is our second project this month is so totally easy and fun to sew - with only 1/2 yard of fabric. At our book launch party last fall, we encouraged everyone to bring fabric so we could all make one at the party. Here are three ladies who did. You can also use stretch lace for a romantic summer scarf.
So make sure you check in with us every Wednesday this month to see what our Sewlebrities make... and join the group on facebook to post your pictures too. Fan photos will be featured in upcoming blog posts, plus we have giveaways and everyone who sews along with us will get a limited edition Sewlebrity button!
