Hi everyone! I am Stephanie from the podcast, Modern Sewciety. Man I am so exciting to take part in the For You Sewlebrity Sewalong on SewCanShe using the awesome book Just for You by Caroline and Sarah. (Oh and in case you missed it they have been on the podcast Episode 049! you should really go listen if you haven't.) I met both Caroline and Sarah at Fall Market in Houston and even got to be a model in their fashion show for their book. It was so much fun and really an honor to model with such amazing creatives. Amy from Stitchery Dickory Dock modeled the faux-wrap pencil skirt and I fell in love. I knew I need to make one. HAD TO!
I already had this great heavier knit from Girl Charlee, which by the way is a great source for buying knits. Oh and if you want to know more about knits take a listen to when Heather from Girl Charlee was on the podcast, episode 044. I think knits can be little scary if you aren't used to working with them and Heather does a great job explaining the different types of knits in that episode.
I changed it up a little bit because I could not find my double needle. I hope I am not the only one that knows where something is until I really need it and then can not find it anywhere. Yep that's normal you say. Awesome because that is exactly how it went today looking for my double needle. I ended up using just a single needle and sewing two rows of stitching. It isn't an ideal thing to do but it worked okay.
I also changed the curve a little too. I wanted it to look a little less dressy so I could throw it on with some converse and a shirt and roll with it as well. It also looks great dressy with heels and a silk shirt. I love clothes that can achieve different looks in my wardrobe. This skirt is so versatile that I KNOW I will be making more very, very soon. I am going to find that double needle and then get busy. Thank you guys so much for allowing me to show you my project on this amazing For You Sewlebrity Sewalong. I had a great time and I hope you will hop on over to Modern Sewciety and check out all of the podcast episodes with your favorite creatives in the industry.
