Today's Friday Spotlight is such a pleasure for me to share with you! I found a tutorial in this weeks Show Off Saturday linky party that is truly unlike one I have ever seen before in our linky parties and it was a complete surprise to me! Joe of JoeFairbanksArt took a liking to my Cage Comforter tutorial here at SewCanShe, (he LOVES dogs:) and not only did he make some of his own Cage Comforters, but he has adapted and produced a very in depth cage comforter tutorial geared specifically for the occupational therapy of loved ones with intellectual disabilities.
It has been apparent to me throughout my entire life that being creative, (taking a collection of ideas and/or materials and organizing them to create something new, beautiful, and useful) is an important and extremely beneficial activity. It has been a powerful influence for good, a master teacher of new skills, and even at times the antidote for personal struggles. (Click here to read my blog post about the links between Creativity and Depression)
I believe that creativity can and even must be an attainable activity for EVERYONE, regardless of age, height, color, shoe size, nationality, sewing machine brand preference...it doesn't matter!:)
I love to use sewing as one form of my creative expression. And I love that Joe has been inspired to try sewing creatively with one of my tutorials. Sewing is a universal language that knows few barriers and unites so many in an appreciation for wonderful new ideas!
So go over and view Joe's special tutorial at JoeFairbanksArt.com and share it with someone you love. I'm so glad he shared it with me, his lucky sister. :)
And I can't wait to see what you will share at our new linky party that starts tomorrow!
