I'm back!!! I spent a fabulous weekend in Houston a few days ago and came back relaxed, refreshed, and inspired to sew. What did that? Quilt Market! In case you've not heard about it yet, Quilt Market is a bi-annual trade show for anyone involved in the quilt industry. Unfortunately for most of my readers, there are credential requirements and only shop owners, manufacturers, and other trade professionals can get a badge. I've been able to go for the past 4 years as a project designer/author.
On the bright side, Quilt Festival is held immediately following the Houston Quilt Market and anyone can attend. The amazing gallery of quilts is still there, a lot of the same vendors attend and there are many more classes. You can read more about it at quilts.com.
What should I show you first? In the Michael Miller booth I saw this AMAZING quilt. You can make it using a paper piecing pattern from Violet Craft. Unfortunately, it's probably the only quilt that I can identify now. Well, except for my own. I'm home already and I did a really bad job of recording the designers/patterns for the other quilts. I'll try to do better next year. :)
I mentioned my own quilt and here it is... I was super excited to see the quilt that I made for Blend Fabrics hanging in their booth. Going over there was one of the first things I did.
I saw a lot of my favorite people while I was at Quilt Market... I even got to ride the escalator with all the Cotton + Steel designers. Eeek! I ran into Kim Kight so many times she probably thinks I'm her stalker. Sorry, Kim. I'm not stalking you! I just love everything Cotton + Steel.
And I love everything Tula Pink. Guess who is coming out with hardware? The set is not available yet, but it will include scissors, thread snips, and a seam ripper.
I also made some new friends, including Cheryl of muppin.com and Heather of craftasdesired.com. Don't Heather and I look alike? Someone even asked if we were twins, lol!
