This week I've been working on some back to school presents for my kids' teachers. We've been at the same elementary school for some years now, and this year two of my kids were lucky enough to get teachers that we already know. So these little pouches will be for them, and for the new teachers. Because I have no problem offering bribes to the people who will be spending sooo much time with my kids.
Anyhow... I got this gorgeous selection of ribbons from Renaissance Ribbons last month, and they were my inspiration. By the way... if you follow me on Instagram (@sewcanshe) you've probably already seen these because I often share my projects there first. :)
When I was thinking about what to make with it, I shied away from my print fabrics because I didn't want anything to clash with the beautiful ribbon. This is the first pouch I made... using the vinyl from a bedspread bag, lol!
The recycled vinyl worked fine, but I dropped into Joann's to see how much new vinyl would cost. Guess what??? Even the thickest stuff (16 guage) cost less than fabric! So I bought a yard to play with...
and made this much nicer looking pouch. Watch for my tutorial coming next week... including a trick that makes sewing with vinyl super easy.
So, what have you been sewing up this week? Did you make something with one of my free sewing tutorials or patterns? I would love to see! Tag me on Instagram @sewcanshe.
