Check this out... I'm building the longest sewing desk ever! Okay, probably not, I imagine somewhere in the world someone probably has a longer sewing desk than me.
I just have this really long wall (36 1/2 feet to be exact) in my new sewing studio and I think it would be perfect for a loooooong sewing desk to hold my 5 machines (the Juki TL2010Q, Bernina 1530, Juki MO-1000 serger, and Janome 900-CPX Coverstitch, whew!).
Plus I often have visitors to my studio who need to do homework and other, ahem, projects, so it will be great to have extra desk space.
You can see my previous sewing desk behind them in the picture above. :)
But when we got to the Orlando Ikea store, I found these gorgeous butcher block countertops on clearance for 50% off. Seriously, they were $80 for the long ones (98'') and $60 for the short ones (74''). How could I spend the same amount of money (or maybe a little bit less) for raw wood that I would have to work so hard to put together?
I am a sewer, not a woodworker, lol. So I splurged on the butcher block tops and I love them so much.
Right now all my fabric stash and other sewing stuff is pushed in one corner of the room (it's a huge pile!), but I have something in mind that will launch that inspiration desk to the next level. I can't wait to put it together and show you!
