So... I've had this dress cut out and ready to sew together for over 7 months. How's that for procrastination? In March of this year I picked out gorgeous custom printed Modern Jersey from MyFabricDesigns and I cut out my draped tee and this dress on the same night.
Then I got busy with Spring Quilt Market, moving to a new house, writing a book, and on and on.
The reason why I decided to finally sew it together is that the draped tee I made (link above) with this same fabric has held up so fabulously through many washes. It's a very thin synthetic jersey perfect for lightweight tops and dresses. And it still looks like new.
So I had to finish the dress asap. The pattern is design #19 in Ottobre Design Magazine Issue 2/2013. This dress is so flattering, it made me feel skinny as soon as I put it on. I have a thick waist so I like dresses that cinch in just below the bust.
The first time I made this pattern the knot here was kind of bulky because my fabric wasn't as thin. But the modern jersey is perfect.
Fabric from MyFabricDesigns is digitally printed with either your design (use their easy Fabric Creator Tool) or with one of the thousands of gorgeous prints that have already be uploaded. My favorite designs are from Melissa Polomsky whose user name is theartwerks. I love those oversized florals.
Now that I've used up all the fabric from my first order, I'm ready for more!
