Because I am so lucky to be friends with Jennifer Heynen (aka Jennifer Jangles), I got an advance copy of her new book, Stitch Kitsch!
A couple years ago, we had lunch together and she explained to me the premise of her book (no title yet then). She was putting together a bunch of projects, each with their own appliqué design and/or embellishments, and then showing ways to mix and match the appliqués and embellishments, adapting the projects for endless variety. Ever since then, I've been watching for this book to hit the stores.
Finally it's here! There are patterns for totes, zipper pouches, quilted things, and more.
One of my favorite projects is the 'Happy Scrappy Placemats.' I decided to make an alternate version the placemats - a 'Happy Scrappy Table Runner.'
And I just happened to have on hand a small stash of Jennifer's holiday fabric! These are from her 'It's Christmas' collection made by In the Beginning Fabrics. I embellished the striped side with cute red, white, and black trims, and let the cute busy print on the back tell it's own story. This table runner is totally reversible.
By the way, she recently released this adorable (and free) Strawberry Appliqué and instructions for the zipper pouch. Don't miss it!
So now for the giveaways... there's two! First make sure you visit the Jennifer Jangles blog for your chance to win the huge prize pictured at right. Is that amazing or what?
Next, I get to giveaway a copy of Stitch Kitsch! A U.S. winner would get a hard copy of the book and if an international winner is picked she or he will get an ebook copy. All you have to do to enter is tell your best sewing friend about this giveaway (tell her by email, Facebook, text, however you want - I trust you!) and then leave a comment below telling me who she is - your sister, grandma, instabuddy.... you get the picture.
The winner will be picked at random from all the comments around 10pm on September 28th and notified by email so make sure you enter your email address. Good luck and happy stitching!
