Who's ready for some selfish sewing? I am, yay! It's #selfishsewingmonth all over the blogosphere so let's take time to sew something sweet for ourselves. Join our our Just For You Sewlebrity Sewalong and you'll have inspiration all year too.
Each month, Sarah and I are inviting two of our favorite 'sewlebrity' bloggers to make something from our new book, Just For You.
Then at the end of the month, we'll be posting pictures of projects that our fans stitched up. It's so much fun... make sure you check out the projects from February's fan picture post.
The first project we're making this month is the Quilting Bee Dress. This easy dress has dolman cap sleeves (so no extra pattern pieces) and empire waist shaping with a cute drawstring. I named it the 'Quilting Bee' dress because it's the perfect pattern for using those cute coordinating quilting cottons. But don't stop there, I've made this dress for myself in rayon, voile, and gauze. You can dress it up for special occasions or put on your flip flops and hang out by the pool. I can't wait to see how you make it! Join our Just For You Sewlebrity Sewalong facebook group to share!
Our second project in March is the Crafty Satchel designed by Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness. Her bags are so amazing that I was flabbergasted when she agreed to contribute to our book. This cute tote has professional details like leather or faux leather handles (easy to find on Etsy) and By Annie's interfacing. Or switch it up and use your own favorite interfacing and bag handles re-cycled from an old purse! We'll be sharing a round-up of ideas for you.
And I almost forgot, everyone who sews along with us and shares a picture of their project (email me or add it to our fb group album above) will get a Sewlebrity button!
Thanks so much to everyone who's joined in so far. I love seeing your projects!
Happy selfish sewing!
