I'm so thrilled to be invited to join Fat Quarter Shop for the release of the scrappy fun book Fat Quarter Style. I was asked to stitch up one block from the Raindrops pattern, but I loved it so much that I got carried away and made a whole top. :)
I am especially attracted to the quilt patterns in Fat Quarter Style because they are designed for the way I love to buy fabric - in fat quarter bundles! Of course, you are free to grab fabrics from your stash, but my stash is also organized by collection (for the most part) so these quilts are perfect me in that way too. And in case you don't recognize them, these are my favorite new fabrics... the basics collection from cotton + steel. Love! I especially adore how the 'x's make my quilt top sparkle.
Here's a quick tip: If you decide to make a Raindrops Quilt (like I did), one of those triangle seam guides is awesome so you don't have to draw diagonal lines on 300+ squares. The one I use is called the Fast 2 Sew Ultimate Seam Guide. It saved me lots of time because I didn't draw any lines.
And here's quick tip #2 if you don't like to have leftover triangles: after I stitched the required seam, I stitched one more seam 1/2'' past it. This way, the triangles that I was going to cut off anyway were stitched together and made a half square triangle when opened. It took a little extra work, but now I have a generous pile of HST's that I want to work into the back of my quilt somehow. I haven't even started yet, but you know I'll get to it, lol.
So are you ready to win a copy of the book Fat Quarter Style? Just leave a comment below telling me what your favorite cut of fabric is: fat quarter, half yard, 1 yard, 5 yards??? Anything works, just tell me what cut you love to buy.
Then on Friday August 15th at 10:00 pm I'll let random.org pick a winner and send them an email. So be sure to include your email address.
***This giveaway is now closed and the winner is Carla G. Congrats Carla!***
